An Analogy for Climate Change

In the book The Merchants of Doubt, a unique analogy is brought up. Climate change can be compared to a large feast, where everyone there is feasting on delicious food. The delicious food are the fruits of unrestricted industrial growth, the prosperity of billions. Everyone attending the feast believes that all this food is for free and that it’s bottomless. But as everyone is enjoying the feast, a man walks into the room and he’s holding a check. Someone must pay for all of the food in the feast.
That check represents climate change, the unexpected and uninvited result of the enjoyment of Earth’s resources without a second thought. It’s also essential to realize that no one wants to take responsibility for that check, but everyone has contributed to the size of that check. So, everyone must pay.
With that, let's see what’s happened in Climate these past weeks.
