Can humans survive climate disaster?

If you were told to guess what this piece of art above is showing, what would you say? Without the figures, it seems like a very strange modern, yet abstract piece of art, but with the figures? Well, it seems obvious, it’s the evolution of humans…. until you see the last figure. “Why does that figure look like it’s melting?” you might think to yourself. It seems like it's depicting human evolution, up to the second to last figure. The last figure, is actually showing the effects of climate change on humans, depicting someone that is quite literally melting away. Now, this is obviously an exaggeration, but it still conveys a meaningful message, it takes the form of a question, that is- will human beings be able to survive climate change?
Humans, like other animals, are known to be adaptive, such as our bodies building a defense against diseases. But these adaptations have occurred over time and with climate change-related natural disasters have seemingly occupied the front pages of major news channels for weeks now, so that brings about a question, will human adaptation help us survive climate change?
I came across this question in a Grist blog, you can read and find out more about this vital question here: https://grist.org/ask-umbra-series/humans-are-adaptable-but-can-we-handle-the-climate-crisis/
